Christmas "getting to know you" quiz thing
Welcome to the "Christmas Edition" of getting to know your friends.
1. Wrapped gifts or gift bags? I prefer to wrap or receive wrapped gifts, but occasionally I'll use a gift bag if the item is very awkwardly shaped.
2. Christmas Tree--real or fake? Fake, although when I was growing up on a farm my father always used to go out and cut a branch off one of our pine trees for our tree.
3. When do you put your Christmas tree up? Usually a couple of weeks before Christmas.
4. When do you take your Christmas tree down? A week or so after Christmas.
5. Do you like egg nog? I don't know: I've never had it, but it doesn't sound very appealing to me.
6. Do you have a nativity scene? No.
7. Favourite gift received as a child? Probably a book. I can't remember any gifts that especially stand out in my memory.
8. Hardest person(s) to buy for? Most of the people on my list. Luckily it's not a very long list.
9. Easiest person to buy for? My daughters – they tell me what they want that's within my budget and I go and buy it.
10. Worst Christmas gift received? A CD of girl singers from about the 80s and 90s.
11. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail, definitely.
12. Favourite Christmas movie? I haven't really got one, but I remember watching "Cheaper By the Dozen" (in black and white) on Christmas Day 1974 with my whole family and afterwards hearing about the cyclone that destroyed Darwin. I don't usually watch movies on Christmas Day so that stands out in my memory both because of the movie watching and of course because of the cyclone.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Sometimes I start very early in the year, but more often I start in about November.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Yes
15. Favourite food to eat at Christmas? Roast chicken with all the trimmings (roast potatoes, roast pumpkin, roast onion, peas, gravy, stuffing), followed by plum pudding with cream, ice cream and hard sauce, and of course Christmas cake and mince pies for snacks (as if I needed any snacks). I don't care how hot it is on Christmas Day, I'll still cook the roast chicken etc.
16. Coloured or clear lights? I haven't got any lights, but I prefer coloured lights.
17. Angel or star on tree top? A chunky angel made of dry pasta painted with gold paint, probably made by one of my kids at school.
18. Open Christmas Eve or Christmas
morning? Christmas morning. It wouldn't feel right to open anything
the day before Christmas.
19. Do you like fruit cake? Of course – I'm Australian. Besides, what's not to like? It's cake with dried fruit and glace cherries in it!
20. The most annoying thing about this time of year? Syrupy music like "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" assaulting my ears everywhere. They can play "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree" and "The Little Drummer Boy" as often as they like, though.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!
